Here’s something I’ve been meaning to post about for a while.

Freecycle http://www.freecycle.org/ is a worldwide network of groups who recycle items that its members no longer want by offering them to other members in the group for free.

For example this is the Leeds group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecycleleeds/

You simply post  on your local groups board what you are giving away and then people who want it get in touch. You can also post ‘wanted’ messages as well.

We’ve got rid of many items which have been surplus to our needs after our move, but would otherwise have gone to the skip via this route. An electric blanket, an old cooker, the cardboard boxes that we used to move (which are getting passed on immediately!!) and we’ve also picked up a bread maker in good condition.

I can’t recommend this highly enough.
