……2000 Birthday update

No George> He rang to say that he wasn’t coming. He had an earlier function which meant mingling with the second year students on his Fine Art Course. He said he mingled a lot and bought 12 cans of Stella…then he waffled on about bleaching his bath “its ace” he goes. Hee hee 🙂

Therefore me and the Good lady of Smethurst are having a quite night in on the pizza and beers…which is good.

Its been fun to write these entries, so I have made a decision to update my live journal much more often. In fact I seem to finally be in the mood to get down and do some serious keyboard bashing, My typing speed amazes me, compared to what it was a year ago. Sat down and finished off a seriously long article for Frag-Energy, yesterday, and bashed out another review in a under an hour. So watch out for more non-sense from monsieur Newt.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Yup hit the big 29 today. Had a day of complte blissfull lazyness today, watched The Prisoner (of which i got the 5 DVD box set for my present from Rachel; woo woo!) and then went into town and spent none of my birthday money!

Going to have some beers tonight, my bro George is coming round later, and probably have a lazy day tomorrow (its a Uni day but I only have two lectures, one fo which is total dross)

For more info on The Prisoner check out this link for Six of One :The official Prisioner Appreciation Society http://www.netreach.net/~sixofone/

Happy happy joy joy!

Thought I post something new, since I ‘ve not been up and at you for a while.

Well what have I been upto.

Course and chillin’. Perhaps abit too much chillin’ but what the hay, it took a while to distress after working for the Beast (the Gov). But don’t worry kids I’m stepping up a gear to get what needs to be done…well done.

Day of Calm

Must take more time to update this journal. Despite a lot of deep relaxation here at ranch relaxo, which looks a heck of a lot more tidy because of my efforts over the last week or so.

Had a good weekend, popping in on Ralph’s pre-lan party, and getting well hammered, and then going to Rachel’s Gran’s 80th birthday meal, at a superb Italian restaurant in the countryside outside Rochdale. Got back yesterday, and today haven’t done much except play FPS and do some more cleaning.

feeling a tad apprehensive about tomorrow, haven’t done any work +will the course tutor sorted out the timetable?

Oh well I’m sure it will all be fine.

My New Life!

Guess what I’m not at work!!!

Had my leaving on Friday and that left me Green until pretty much
today.

Had my first lectures on Tuesday, which was fun since the course leader is
making up the timetable as he goes along. So far I’ve had Software
development (programming in C++ whoo whoo Half-life Mod here i come!),
Databases (not as boring as I had first thought, since our lecturer is a
spit for Jeremy Clarkeson, bothe physically and personality!) and Project
Management for IT projects (for which the first half tutor was still abroad
on his holidays, so we where in at the deep end with the 7th lecture of the
course which scared the heck out of half the class). So the first day was
class.

In again on Friday, for a half day, so have today and tomorrow off (as well
as Monday’s—do I hear the term Long Weekends?). Still finding it strange
and a bit difficult to adjust to the new regime. Quite literally don’t know
what day of the week it is. Monday my mind dealt with it by thinking I was
having a day off work, today I was unemployed. Oh well, things are settling
down now.

Strange but Amazing Times

It is the last days of my time in the Civil Service. The entrys in the Book Of Doom are getting fewer……Newtman is exiting the Civil Service for a less boring life. Can’t say im unhappy about it.

Registered yesterday the Leeds Metropolitian Uni, up at the Becketts’ Park. It was a weird experience. Damp and scruffy I arrived at the lush and picturesque Campus, most of the buildings seem to be from the Edwardian period, amongst of hordes of wannabe models, sport stars and trendy boy lads.

Went to the Grange where the Computer Dept is based, only to find that we were meant to be in another building. Oh well…I forgot the randomness and waiting around that happens with student life…much better than “I like to walk around, but I’m paid to sit around” of office culture.

Due to the non-materialization of the Tour, I walked over to my friends in Hyde Park who have just finished the course, who filled me in much more than the induction.

Then walked back, again thought the wind and rain ( I reckon I did the equivalent of a 10 mile hike that day) and Enrolled with the minimum of fuss..which was strange.

Had a quick beer in the Becketts Bar…and then went home.

Overall that feeling of infinite space is back and I like it.

Friday night Frazzle night

Having a quiet night in. The Good Lady of Smethurst has gone to her parents, so its just me, the cats (1 in, 1 out at present) the Internet and some Rapture Coffee that came as a free gift, not half bad.

So here’s the awful links of the night.

Somethingawful– a comp-geek piss take, painful but true and has to be said…..is this what I’m turning into?

Jermysworld-A boy and his work-cubicle!!! check out www.camville.com for more reasons why the Internet revolution will fail….saying that a webcam is only £50 so you might see da da da da NEWTCAM!

The Lovelyness of melted cheese

Been a while but I’m back. Its a tale of two busy weekends, Gen_con (woo woo!) and my mates’ Annie’s wedding in the Lowlands of Scotland last weekend, and the exhaustion that has followed.

Will post write-ups of these events later in the week, because both were monumental!

Today was a cheese sandwich sort of day, in that that’s all I ate today until I made a well received Veggy Shepards Pie for me and the Good lady of Smethurst.

Beginning to withdraw slowly from the wacky world of work (ho ho) and allot of projects that I was working on.

The Shared World Project was officially declared Terminally Ill last week, and closed down (although I gained consent to do a handbook using the material that the 4 Board members wrote. Basically the project turned into a discussion group and lacked the momentum to carry it forward. However it is a surprisingly good setting which none of us would have done on our own, and may form the background for a fantasy play by e-mail game later this year.

Two other projects have reached a cross roads where I have to take time to reaccess.

The first is Frag-energy. I need to sort out where I am going article wise, also what I want to with all these ideas for Mods that I want to get done. To many ideas, not humanly possible to do everything at once. However it more a case of start Medium then go big, as I’ve already done my small stuff here. The whole site is undergoing that transformation as the Webmaster Guarddog is trying to sort out the site so that it gets more hits. I been doing some research about this with people who have run gaming sites before and I will have to share with him tomorrow.

The second is The Forum
an EGroup that I run for Eurolog. With the implementation of a message board at the main site, a much more appropriate place which is closer to the people who run this gamers association, it really makes that feature of Forum a bit redundant. Turn out so far has been a bit poor, and I’m going to have to have a think on how to keep things up and going. It has far to many good feature to let go. Will have to start a campaign of getting things up and going.

Oh by the way if you like Quake 3 check out Q3 Jailbreak a top notch pro-quality mod that completely wasted all Saturday into the wee hours of the morning.

Oh other big news of the week is that I got my Carreer Development Loan through so if off to Uni to do a MSc in Software Development I go in a couple of weeks.
