Whooosh!!!!!!

I’m off to Continuum tomorrow. The culmination of about three months hard work, including one hard-drive crash which resulted in a major change of plans and a desperate dash to the finish line that I’m currently heading towards. The result? A weekend of Mega Gaming Fun; 24 hours of runing games (or the Narattorthon as I’m calling it) , catching up with good friends I only see at these events and beer in sunny Leicester. Since the venue has wi-fi, and I now have a laptop courtesy of work, me and some others will be blogging about during the event on the Continuum community weblog I’ve set up.

In real life I’m on a real crest of a wave at the moment. The end of several big projects, both in terms of work and esteem, are rapidly approaching and I’m excited/terrified in equal measure. I think the excitement is winning out and I’ve never felt so alive 😀

Burning Newt

Took Friday off, since the old batteries where begining to run a bit low. Did pretty much bugger all except play Halflife 2 and play about with our new 6Mega pixel Fuji Film camera (no evidence though, since dofus managed to erase all the pics I took).

Saturday did a bit of much needed house work, started playing Call of Duty 2 again (can you spot the theme here). Then in the afternoon dragged my self out to Oldham town centre, for whats probably my 4 or 5th visit since moving here! Took lots of piccies with new camera, which I’ll post latter when I’ve got a new web host sorted (cos my current one is full up!). Also visited the new libary and got some books out (as you do). Visited the local Wetherspoons for a quick pint, then headed home to have a couple more and play Deus Ex, and oldly but goody.

Sunday. Really ramped up the effort on housework and gardening, which I think impressed Rach (well at least she didn’t moan about lack off). Had the worst Sunday Lunch ever at a local pub with the inlaws. The food was terrible and best forgotten. Not going there again. Then did the back lawn and loafed around the house.

On the getting ready for Continuum in two weeks time front, did some more work on my Stalingrad meets Tolkien Burning Wheel scenario which is loosely based on the film Enemy at the Gates. Really enjoying writting this and looking forward to running it. Mark Galeotti ,contributor/ex line editor of HeroQuest and Dr in Russian history, wrotes some nice Lifepaths and a new rule for the Communist Dwarfs who are the PCs of the adventure, which has saved me alot of time + added to the fun 😀

Wonderfully hot weather we are having at the mo eh?

Saxondale, BBC 2 Monday nights

Quotes from the great man himself;

“And none of that Dance rubbish. If I want bleepy noises, I’ll stick my boot through the window of the car…”

“Here have some 70s Danish porn. Its a bit out of date, but all the equipment is in the right places”

“Maz I’ve done it again”

Love it, classic stuff. Reminds me of alot of Rocker/Rpgers with their aggressive know it all tendencies so its a bit painful to watch at times.

Music

Things that are currently rocking my boat.

Skindred live two weeks ago. Three bands over as many hours, not bad value for a tenner. First up were local Skindred rip offs Daywalkers (or sumpthing like that). Not really got much good to say about this crew, but they seemed to have brought their own fans who liked them. Multi Purpose Chemical was the band of the evening for me, precision based metal core, tight and funky with a gruff vocals with a serious sense of humour going on. Skindred? Well when they could be bothered to play during their 50 min set they were blinding.

Devin Townsend. Seriously getting into Terria, his solo album that explores the theme of the element of earth (no really). Spacey, twiddly heartfelt metal that I initially overlooked on first listen. But bugger me he’s released two more records lately that have completely gone under my metal radar. New Devin Townsend Band,SYNCHESTRA and a new Strapping Young Lad lp , New Black. The latter I have on Download now, and will buy tomorrow when its out in the shops. Its allot more pop metal than the last lp Alien, but only in the sense that that lp was a dense noisy affair. Defiantly liking it on first listen. catchy and unapologetically METAL!!

Newt Style

Or rather lack of it.

This seasons’ look is like that of 10 years….only more so. Silly shorts, brightly coloured short sleeve shirts, hair long, boots, canvas deck shoes, combat trousers… If you know me you know the drill.

Managed to replenish the old Rock T-shirt collection since most of my old t-shirts literally fell to bits after 10-15 years of service. As well as the obligatory Motorhead and Dead Kennedy’s shirts, I also managed to replace from a German website my No Means No “You Kill me” T-shirt which I originally bought 16 years ago!!! Also added a rather nice blue “Innsmouth High School” courtesy of Tentacles GM reward system.

Got a nice selection of combat shorts, one a grubbly urban camo design the other a olive pair with flowers 😀 Had to explain the origin of past knee/shin length combat shorts to a rather bemused Rach.

The hair is coming along nicely. Looking less and less like Mr Mop head every day.

Picked up a nice Hawaiian shirt recently, although it is same as dreadtemujin‘s so we can not risk being in the same room wearing said shirt or the universe will implode in embarrassment. Found a good website that sells beautiful authentic Hawaiian shirts, so I’ll be purchasing one before Continuum.

Life overall.

Is pretty fucking peachy at the mo 😀

I have time, space and health to make sure that I maximise my fun and development, and by doing this start a snowball effect that should engulf the universe in glee avoiding the mega-negativo apocalypse toilet time that we are currently all heading towards.

…and yes I know what full stops are for.

Life is always intense when you are a Repo Man.
