You scored as Newt. The only person to be kicked out of Taoism for being too disorganised. You are Paul Newport, the man named after a smelly welsh town not because he smells but because he’s about as liked as the Welsh.
Newt once was in a war, fighting for this country. Oh no, that was day of defeat wasn’t it. You will be found dead at your desk after tring to force a network lead into your head in order to speed up your internet gaming.

In honour of Keefybabe’s last day on LJ
Well for a while, or so he claims.
Bleeurgh!!!
Off ill again today.
Yesterday was a nice being off ill day, as far as physically feeling shite can be. Watched Enemy at the Gates again, which is quickly turning into my ‘confort cheer myself up film” in the same was as Apocalypse Now and Bladerunner used to be. My latest ebay auction (as part of the attic clearout) is now earning serious money. An out of print book I won on ebay turned up, so inbetween bouts of nausea and playing on the computer read bits of that. Also did of web programming which was nice, seeing as I’m getting bugger all done at work. Ate nice revitalising food and generally had a 14 hours of quality me time. Shame about the nausea.
Today was all fired up to go back in and have a laugh at work, but still feel crap. So I’m here at home again. However got the feeling that today will be more being ill doing useful things around the house since Rach is not working today.
Its war….kitten war!
Nice to see our Tiswas is still holding her own on Kitten War, even though in no part of the 4 years she has owned us* has she ever been a kitten!!
*as part of a timeshare with our other cats Holly & BBC.

Small boy caught just in time by grown man before hurtling into the pit of black despair
Well my tranquiltiy from the holiday lasted all of five minutes when I returned the madhouse that was work last week. Nearly lost my sense of humour, and had a couple of outbursts before I got a grip on myself. Woke up on Saturday back to my usual happy self.
Had a very productive weekend. Got some rpg writing done, more for fun than publication, for my PBEM HeroQuest game. Played a fair bit of Day of Defeat: Source, which is like DOD but on speed with much prettier graphics. A nice game but one to avoid any public servers with more than 16 slots or brace your self for a bunny-hopping-run-and-spray-grenade spamming experience.
Did a great deal round the house, some more on the front garden, and we dropped the last of the excess books at Oxham in Headingley. Had a humbling experience as we crawled through traffic near the Original Oak/Skyrack as I realised I have been in Leeds 15 years!!! Man its time to move on!
Also popped over to Oldham to see the in-laws on Saturday day. Had a cracking pub lunch with much fine beer and had a quick drive round some of the houses Rach has seen on the Internet. Realised that we can now pop over and go in and look at houses! We’ll be doing this in upcoming weekends, when Rach isn’t working.
Work has calmed down and I am just plodding along now. Tomorrow I fly and get start coding some web applications that have been gently calling my name in the last busy month or so.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Lights camera action!!!
Presently I am travelling fast through an experience/perspective vortex. Events are accelerating and I’m strangely exhilarated. Seeds sown in my head three months ago are blooming fast. I’m also strangely guilt free. I’m not sure if this is because I haven’t got time or because of a fundamental change in my personality. I’m hoping it is the latter.
The move is defiantly now on. Rachel went to the bank yesterday and they will loan us the money to buy a considerably larger and more spacious pad in a nice part of Oldham. GO NEWPORTS!!! We are busy now being tidy and clutter free. The plan is to initially try to sell the house ourselves through House Web a website that makes sure you are advertised on most of the big house selling sites, without the exorbitant estate agent fees.
Work is that interesting time of year, when all the systems fail and the new batch of students arrive. Had a bit of a hissy fit when one of my projects got pulled forward a month and had to be implemented this month. But it has inspired me that from now on I’m going to pull my finger out and get things done.
Right must push off and get to work
So you think you live in a bad neighbourhood…
A friend of mine recently relocated to New York
Relocations proved… eventful. The apartment in Newark very nice, for example, but turned out to be in the no man’s land between a gang house and a crack house: 2 fatal shootings in our street in our first two weeks there. …. We’ve moved again (to Manhattan)
Makes sunny Headingley, were I used to live in Leeds, look like a golden ghetto in comparison!
Holiday tales then Back to work.
The holiday in the peak district last week was very tranquil. While my last holiday brought back the fun this week brought back an inner sense of calm that has been missing for quite a while.
Highlights was were visits to Eyam plague village, on a rather gloomy Sunday afternoon, Bolsover Castle, which was one of the best castles/stately homes I’ve been to in years, and a visit to Chestnut conservation centre so Rachel could play with the otters who live there. MORE PHOTOS of the week
We came home a day early to start work in earnest on sorting out the house. So on Sunday I cleared the garden, lumped boxes into the attic, while Rachel went through 4 boxes worth of course notes, throwing out 99%, and tidied up the computer desk (which hopefully is being taken away today). Very productive and very tiring.
Back at work today in sunny Manchester. I’m having a slack morning sorting out ten zillion emails that have arrived in my absence. Fortunaltly none of them are angry epistles saying that I am crap at my job like I feared, most are just the automated “To All staff” which clutter up your in-tray when you turn your back for five minutes. The rest I’ll action this afternoon. Oh happy days….
In other news. While we were away Rachel got her result. She is now a qualified Midwife with a 1st Class degree , with an overall mark of 79%. Feel free to call her a swot when you next see her next.
